Amur leopard knocked down by car in Primorye

According to the press-service of the Ministry of Interior of Primorsky Krai, on October 24, at 9 a.m. a male Amur leopard was fatally knocked down by a car in Primorye, Russian Far East. A driver of the car that hit the animal did not leave the scene of an accident. He called the police and explained how the collision had happened. According to the driver, he could not avoid collision as the leopard suddenly appeared on the roadside and made a jump. The animal was hit by the car in rear part of its body. The accident occurred at 35 km of Rzdolnoye-Khasan highway, near Nezhinskoye hunting lease. Now, police officers and investigators are doing their best to establish all relevant facts of the accident. The carcass of the animal will be taken to Ussuriisky Agricultural Academy for postmortem examination.
