Employees of the MIA Administration for the Primorsky Territory, carried out a complex of measures aimed at revealing crimes against animals, included in the Red book.
During the operational-search activities on the federal highway “Khabarovsk - Vladivostok” in the Mikhailovsky District of the Primorsky Territory the Police found and seized in one of the cars parts of the skeleton of an animal.
The seized remains were sent for examination, which showed that they were ribs of an Amur tiger.
In the residences of the owners of the seized items, in Ussuriisk, Chuguyivsky and Kavalerovskyi districts there were held searches, during which there were seized hunting guns, ammunition, 28 bear gallbladders, jaws, horns and carcasses of animal, 3,000 species of dried sea cucumber, and 3 plastic bags with Amur tiger bones of different shapes and sizes.
In addition, in the apartment of one of the suspects the investigators found a live 9-month-old black bear. The animal was kept in a small cage and was practically immobilized.
The police handed over the animal into the care of Ussuri zoo specialists.
A criminal case was initiated on the fact of illegal hunting and trafficking of wild animals and aquatic biological resources referring to the species included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and protected by international treaties of the Russian Federation.
One of the suspects has been taken into custody.
The activities aimed at identifying, documenting, and suppressing the facts of illegal hunting, storing and transporting of derivatives of rare and endangered species of fauna continue.

The Amur tiger is included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation, its existence is endangered, hunting is prohibited. Transportation of Amur tiger or parts of its body across the borders of the Russian Federation requires a special permission of the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna) Management Authority in the Russian Federation.
Earlier, the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin signed a list of instructions on the conservation of Amur tigers and Far Eastern leopards.
In the structure of the Administration for Economic Security and combating the corruption of the MIA Administration for the Primorsky Territory there was created a special unit to combat the illegal hunting of animals included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation. The main activity of the Unit - protection of endangered species of animals included in the Red Book, comprehensive preventive operations of high degree of complexity, aimed at curbing the activities of organized groups engaged in illegal hunting of rare and endangered species of fauna, including the Amur tiger and the Far-Eastern leopard.
