It is clear that surviving in Primorsky forests can be hard on their dwellers. It is too hard for them to survive under the condition of total poaching, illegal logging, lack of food, and forest fires. They cannot survive without our help. For several years the Phoenix Fund implemented Project “HELP!” that let everyone concerned about nature of our region contribute to its conservation. The money raised within the framework of this project were used to solve problems that required prompt actions.
Within three years of the project (2009-2011), thanks to charitable donations from individuals and legal entities, the Phoenix fund succeeded to raise up to 197,308 roubles (6,576 USD). Project “HELP!” has proved to be an effective tool to save the Ussuriiskaya taiga and its inhabitants. The project found a broad response among concerned people living not only in Primorye, but in other cities of Russia.
The funds collected in 2009-2011 were sent as special assistance to clean seacoast of Lazovsky Nature Reserve from oil spills, to rehabilitate an orphaned tiger cub, to purchase fire-fighting equipment for Zov Tigra National Park and to deliver forage for ungulates there, to provide anti-poaching teams of Anyuisky National Park and Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve with fuel, and to construct Amur Tiger Rehabilitation Centre.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated in our actions under the Project “HELP!” and are hopeful that more and more responsive and concerned people will take part in nature conservation projects in Primorye.
