The project presupposed collection and analysis of all available information on Himalayan black bear: its numbers assessment, population structure and status, distribution, reproductive capacity and harvesting limits. At the Interdepartmental meeting concerning a forthcoming hunting season at Primorsky Department of Federal Service for Veterenarian and Vegetation Sanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) for the first time in the Far East the decision to forbid hunting on dens is accepted.
