Public Environmental Investigation Team

Two public environmental investigation teams were established in March 2001 to enhance the protection work of the state agencies. In 2006 the teams merged into one. The team conducts patrols in Northern Primorye together with police officers, wildlife managers, and fishing inspectors. In addition to the anti-poaching work, the rangers organize conservation-oriented educational activities in local schools. Продолжить

Khabarovsky Team

Phoenix has been supporting the Khabarovsky anti-poaching team of Inspection Tiger since 2001. The team consists of three experienced rangers and covers the southern part of the Khabarovsky region and northern border of the tiger habitat. In 2002 alone, the rangers confiscated three tiger skins from local villagers. Since its establishment, the team has drawn over 250 citations for violations of hunting regulations, confiscated 100 illegal rifles, 103 fishing nets and rescued several orphaned tiger cubs. Occasionally, the team is involved in the investigation of conflict tiger cases. The rangers also give lectures on ecological and nature conservation problems at local schools. Продолжить

Tiger Day-2012

The 13th annual Tiger Day Celebration was held in Vladivostok on September 30, 2012. The weather was beautiful, and the parade was a great success. Over 4,000 brightly colored costumed participants proceeded down Okeansky Avenue, and at the intersection of Okeansky Avenue and Svetlanskaya Street circled the downtown square. Продолжить

«Trial Balloon» Launched!

The Third Open Festival of School and Youth Mass Media – “Trial Balloon” – was held in Luchegorsk. This year over 70 individuals, 32 youth film studios, 11 children and student press-centres from Primorsky krai, Amurskaya and Permskaya provinces, Moscow, Barnaul and other cities submitted their entries. Tiger in Schools

Alexander Vrisch, coordinator of Phoenix’s educational projects, presented an Educator’s Tool Kit on Amur tiger, including a Teacher’s Guide and a DVD. The Kit was developed by 20 educators from eight districts of Primorye, representatives of Wildlife Conservation Society-Russia, Greenpeace-Russia, Primorsky Institute for Further Training of Educators, Lazovsky Nature Reserve, and representatives of Khabarovsky National Pedagogical University and All-Russia Nature Conservation Society from Khabarovsky krai. Educator’s Tool Kit on the Amur Leopard Awarded a Gold Medal

A unique Educator’s Tool Kit on the Amur leopard was awarded a gold medal as the best electronic publication at the 13th Far-Eastern Fair “Publishing House-2009”. Also, at the Second Far-Eastern Contest “Higher Education Publications-2009” the Kit was nominated as the best higher education publications in pedagogy and psychology fields and won the award.
