The Third Open Festival of School and Youth Mass Media – “Trial Balloon” – was held in Luchegorsk. This year over 70 individuals, 32 youth film studios, 11 children and student press-centres from Primorsky krai, Amurskaya and Permskaya provinces, Moscow, Barnaul and other cities submitted their entries. The best video films, documentaries and reports were screened during the festival. The winners of various nominations were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts. In August, the best films will be screened in “Zvyezdny” (Starry) camp of Orlyonok, the largest all year around educational center in Russia.
The Phoenix Fund has provided financial support for the “Trial Balloon” Festival and awarded young filmmakers of “Golden Frame” school film studio (Stary Oskol city, Moskovskaya oblast), the winners in “The Best Environmental Film” nomination.
«We believe that by supporting young environmental journalists and filmmakers we make significant contribution in nature conservation», says Sergei Bereznuk, Director of the Phoenix Fund. «Every year the Phoenix Fund together with other NGOs holds Annual Environmental Journalism Contest, and skillful journalists receive awards for their publications on environmental issues. And this time we decided to support young inexperienced filmmakers».
In 2009, the “Trial Balloon” Festival was organized for the first time in Pozharsky district of Primorye, and after three years it has become an official partner of the All Russia Children and Youth Creativity Forum “Boomerang”.
